New Objects! MatSUI 1.0

For all intensive purposes I believe this is it!!  My jsui library,
MatSUI 1.0, is here!  http://www.estatesound.com/matsui.html

I just can’t wait any more. I want to hear what everyone has to say
so much.  I would advise people to exercise a wink of caution until
they are confident everything is fine.  Everything works here. My 7
or so beta testers seem pretty happy.  I will readily admit to never
being formally/academically trained in programming.

One thing I wanted to ask the more seasoned programmers and
academics:  Are there any researchers that might be interested in
this? I’m in no way familiar with the HCI field.  However, there are
a couple things in here I’ve never seen before.  Would it be worth
compiling a standalone as a demo to see what GUI-ish scholars think?

Working on MatSUI has been my creative output.  I haven’t written
music for months.  When I needed guidance I asked myself what Kai
Krause would do.  I’ve got tons more ideas…. TONS!!!!     This list
has brought me up as a maxer (and a creative human) asking for
nothing in return.  I’ve thought of MatSUI as an attempt to show that
I am a wise and strong investment.  forgive the acceptance speech…

Don’t hesitate to give questions comments or bug reports to this
address.

a note to beta testers:
I kind of feel like I pulled the rug out from under beta-testing.
but I’m confident that I’ve fixed all reported bugs. so…   THANK
YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!   OBVIOUSLY PLEASE DON’T DONATE. the beta
testers rocked. let’s see how it goes.

Free workshop on spatial hearing and spatial audio with Wave Field Synthesis demos on MAX/MSP

For those of you in Québec …

We are presenting a free workshop on spatial audio and spatial hearing tomorow
in Québec City (french only!). The workshop includes live interactive
demonstration of Wave Field Synthesis (WFS) that we have been implemented with
MAX/MSP (with a single G5!) (in the very few past days!) using a compact
16-channel loudspeaker array. (See my DIY column in the current MusicWorks
(93).) Other demonstrations include “beam-forming” so that sound events behind
the audience are created with a compact frontal disposition of loudspeakers (no
loudspeaker behind) while firing acoustical beam on room surfaces.

The MAX/MSP patches are the first version of our WFS free patches. The second
version (cleaner, with a GUI) should be compiled and distributed in 2006.
Freely, of course!

Update on maxobjects.com

Hi everyone,
At last, adding/editing/deleting of libraries is back on the site
http://www.maxobjects.com
Sorry for having being so late…

If you are registered, you can add objects from a library at once
using a 3 fields ASCII tabbed text file. Please follow the
instructions on the dedicated pages (“ASCII tabbed text file” as a
link).

You also can add objects to an existing library using a same formated
ASCII tabbed text file. However, only the person who added something
can edit or delete it.

The possibility to add comments on objects is also available since
late october.

Mathieu and myself are still open to suggestions and feedbacks.
