blue – 0.104.0

Hi All,

I’ve put out a new release of blue available at:

http://www.csounds.com/stevenyi/blue

This release brings the next phase in the Mixer system and introduces
the new Effects system. Effects have user-editable for Csound code and
User-Interface, exchangable through blueShare, and usable on any mixer
channel.  At this point, I would encourage users to use the new Mixer
system in their work.  Documentation with screenshots are available
here:

http://csounds.com/stevenyi/blue/usermanual/html/mixer.html

While there’s still more to do (Sends, and hopefully one day,
automation), focus for the next rounds of development will be shifting
to the FlowGraph instrument  that was introduced into CVS by Ugur
Gurney (a graphical instrument building system with boxes and lines,
in the style of pd and reaktor).

I’d like to thank those on the blueusers mailing list who were
gracious enough to test the beta release and offer feedback, and I’d
like to especially thank Michael Bechard for his involvement in
discussing the implementation of the Mixer.  I’d also like to thank
those involved with Ardour, which I referenced quite a bit in
determining blue’s mixer design.

Also a big thanks to everyone who reported bugs and requests.  blue is
much better off for them!

Thanks and enjoy!
steven

[CHANGE LOG]

>Notes for 0.104.00<
[released 2006.03.14]

Steven Yi———————————————————————–

blue

[new] – Effects System added to Mixer; create graphical UI’s and code with
Csound to create Effects which can be added pre-/post-fader to mixer
Channels, SubChannels, and Master channel; Effects are created and
managed in the Effects Library, and one can trade Effects through
blueShare (please view updated documentation on the Mixer for more
            information)

[new] – Mixer option for Extra Render Time added; user can set to add extra
time end of score here so that effects with time delay (such as
reverbs) will have enough time to finish out processing

    [new] – added limited undoability on add/remove of instruments in orchestra;
will not work if instrument id changes, good for undoing an
            immediate mistake

[updated/fix] – when rendering CSD to disk or file, use disk render settings
which also prevents blue timepointer instrument from being generated

    [updated] – examples/features/mixerText.blue renamed to mixer.blue; example
now uses Effect on Master channel as well as demonstrates using
            extra render time

[fix] – Score Navigator was causing errant adjustments when resizing the
navigator dialog (thanks Francisco Vila for the bug report!)

[fix] – BSB Vertical Slider was not correctly loading saved height value
(Thanks to Kevin Welsh for the bug report!)

[fix] – Mixer was outputing scientific notation for multipliers when fader
values were <= -60db (thanks Menno for the bug report!)

[fix] – pasting of soundObjects from copy buffer after changing timeline
zoom caused incorrect start times for pasted soundObjects

[fix] – Using Shift soundObject option sometimes resulted in
NullPointerError if right after a selection made

documentation

[updated/new] – Mixer documentation expanded to explain Effects system and
            Extra Render Time

[updated] – Pch generation options for PianoRoll were further expanded upon
to include information on the MIDI option

New Live Csound5 Arrangement: Sublimation (Realtime Version)

http://www.arthunkins.comAnnouncing my latest project, live performance versions of Dave Seidel’s
Sublimation for Csound5.

Called Sublimation (Realtime Version), the arrangements (2 of them) require
Csound5, as they make use of the new opcode reverbsc. (Yes, this was what my
recent reverb questions were all about.)

A complete .zip file and separate .txt Instructions file are downloadable at
www.arthunkins.com. (Top of compositions list.) And in case the .zip file
can’t be downloaded on platforms other than Windows (please advise), I’ve
attached all three files here (one .txt instructions + the two .csd’s).

I’ve tested the arrangements on Windows XP and ME. What I’d really
appreciate is for some of you to try the two versions (SublimationRT.csd and
the alternate SublimationRTAlt.csd) on Linux and Mac. As we all know
(hope?), they *should* work. Are any different <CsOptions> or instructions
required for the various platforms.

FLTK is not used (that should simplify things); the performance vehicle is a
MIDI device comprising a bank of 6-8 controllers – either sliders or rotary
pots. Performance is *very* simple.

I’ll much appreciate the feedback.
