TechArt 20xx Call for Works 2008
IMMArts’ yearly concert of
Electroacoustic Music, Video, and Experimental Live Performance.
TechArt 2008
will be held in November to coincide with SEAMUS Electroacoustic Music
Month.
Date and location to be announced.
IMMArts is seeking works that
combine art and technology for the 2008 TechArt20xx Exhibition. Works that
especially demonstrate an imaginative intersection between art and technology
will be selected for the exhibition. All types of media and are welcome
including sound, video, installation, and objects. Works should be sent on
CD/DVD with contact information, program notes, and short biography. Works that
include objects or installation instructions can be submitted with proper
documentation for consideration.
Deadline for submissions: October 7,
2008.

UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI

Department of Music

VACANCY: MUSIC TECHNOLOGY

RANK: With completed doctorate, Visiting Assistant Professor of Music; with completed master’s degree, Visiting Instructor of Music. Not tenure-track.

APPOINTMENT: January 5 – May 12, 2009 (one semester sabbatical replacement)

POSITION: Teach basic and advanced audio production, including Pro Tools, recording studio design and maintenance, and sound reinforcement; instrumentation; electronic music composition; and composition lessons. Supervise recital recording, recording studios, and other music technology/composition facilities. Provide technological support to department as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree required, doctorate preferred (Ph.D./D.M./ D.M.A. in Music Technology or Composition). Experience with Pro Tools and contemporary music recording/production techniques is required. Prior experience teaching Pro Tools is highly desirable. Familiarity with Logic Studio, Max/MSP, and Finale is desirable.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

DEPARTMENT: The Department of Music at University of Central Missouri offers the B.A., B.M., B.M.E., and M.A. degrees. The University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the Higher Learning Commission, and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. There are 22 full-time faculty members and over 200 music majors. See the web site at www.ucmo.edu/music.

In addition to offering B.M. degrees in performance, piano pedagogy, and jazz/commercial music, UCM offers the B.M. in Music Technology. Attracting an enrollment of eighty majors, the eight-year-old program is the only one of its kind in Missouri. Trained on state-of-the-art equipment, its interns and graduates have rapidly won approval in the field.
