Hi to all!

This note to let you know I’ve posted some improvisations using an extended
Csound orchestra running under MacCsound. You can listen to these at:

Scroll to the bottom for the improvisations. All the music linked to on this
page was written with Csound.

best regards,
Lou Cohen

partikkel slight update

A slight update to partikkel has been commited to CVS.
The changes are fully backwards compatible.
The reason for the changes was to allow softsyncing the grain clock of
several partikkel instances. Manpages are also updated.

An example of softsync with two instances of partikkel is attached.

New pieces up using Csound by Prent Rodgers

I’ve posted a new piece made with Csound on my web site. It’s in 53 tone to the octave equal temperament, also known as 53 EDO for equal divisions of the octave.

Csound is used as a sampling instrument, with samples from some instruments I made many years ago, plus a bass flute and cello sample from the McGill University Master Samples library.

There are two versions, one 5.26% slower than the other. As with the other  million wonders of Csound, that change was trivial. Can you image asking an orchestra to please adjust your tempo to be the (53rd root of 2) * 4 slower, please?

There is lots of indeterminacy, repetition with small changes of intonation and rhythm. I’ve been listening to Steve Reich a lot lately. He’s a master, I’m an amateur. But I do enjoy Csound.
