Call for scores/multimedia works/papers – XVIII CIM, Torino/Cuneo – Italy

##########################  XVIII CIM –  "Near distances"  ########################## 
Torino-Cuneo October 5/8 2010

AIMI, the Italian Association for Musical Informatics, organizes the XVIII CIM (Colloquium for Musical Informatics), its biennial meeting, in Torino and Cuneo,  October 5/8 2010.

The main topic, "near distances", refers to the increasing diffusion of connectivity in musical production and consumption.

The meeting itself is co-organized by institutions of two different cities, even if of the same region: the University of Turin and the Conservatory of Cuneo.

As usual, the programme will include scientific communications, workshops and artistic events.

Two workshops will be held:

– A SuperCollider 1-day intensive workshop, with special focus on live electronics, will be given  by Joshua Parmenter. Josh will also cure live electronics for the Fiarì Ensemble concert (see later)

– Mark Trayle will lead a 6-day workshop on networked musical systems, culminating in a performance of the work "Phantom rooms", between Torino and Cuneo

Calls for works include:

– trombone and electronics, with Michele Lomuto performing the selected works (Lomuto was a Berio’s favorite for playing his Sequenza)

– ensemble and electronics, with Fiarì Ensenble

– multimedia (audio-video) works to be written for the Virtual  1958 Philips Pavilion, where Varèse’s Poème électronique and Xenakis’ Concret PH were performed,  and rendered over screen projection and 8 channel audio system (http://edu.vrmmp.it/vep/)

Concerts:

Apart from the three events related to calls for works and Phantom rooms performance, concerts will include also Michele Marelli playing works for clarined and electronics by KH Stockhausen. Jam sessions for electroacoustic improvisers  are going to be organized at the University of Torino.

Call for Workshop Proposals

Workshops: Call For Proposals
— Deadline: March 15th —

The International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) is now accepting
proposals for workshops. These workshop events focus on the
development of knowledge through demonstrations, hands-on learning,
and tutorials with a special emphasis on physical computing and
building things. The topics of these events can range from
demonstration of software techniques, physical modeling, design of
hardware, specialist techniques, circuit bending, hardware hacking,
software programming, physical computing, real-time sound
synthesis/analysis, DSP, development of new musical instruments.
Workshops will be open to enrollment from the general public, creating
learning experiences between conference participants and visitors to
the ICMC community. As a general rule, the workshops should relate to
the topics of the conference. These events are a good place to
continue dialog generated by the conference presentations and explore
topics in greater detail with and emphasis on interaction.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

* Understand that the presenter(s) are responsible for publishing
any workshop proceedings if desired and should engage in the promotion
of their event amongst own networks.
* Workshop/Tutorials will be held May 29-31 and June 6-7.
* Workshop/Tutorials may be canceled or combined if there is
inadequate participation
* Workshop prices will be determined based upon duration of the
proposed workshop
* Revenues from workshop enrollment will be split between the
presenter and ICMC after expenses
* Details regarding materials fees and reimbursement will be
handled after selections are made

Miso Music Portugal Competitions Reminder

3rd European competition for live-electronic music projects
Deadline for entry of projects is postponed: 15th of March 2010

The ECPNM – European Conference of Promoters of New Music hosts the third European competition for the composition and interpretation of live-electronic music projects. Entries are possible into 2 categories: Works involving violin or electric violin (5 strings: C-G-D-A-E) or viola and live-electronics. Works for live-electronics only or with any traditional instrument and live-electronics, in which composer and performer are the same person.

Call for Electroacoustic Miniatures – Musica Viva Festival 2010 – "Sound Walk"

Miso Music Portugal and the Musica Viva Festival 2010 convokes composers to send electroacoustic miniatures to be diffused at the "Sound Walk" installation during the Musica Viva Festival 2010 at the Belem Arts Centre in Lisbon (from the 16th to the 19th of September 2010).
