The  Medea Electronique the E.P.H.M.E.E. (Electroacoustic Music Research and
Applications Lab, Music Dept. Ionian University, Corfu, Greece) and the Center for Music Composition & Performance (C.M.C.P.) co organize in Athens the first
international festival of mixed media arts, ElectroMediaWorks’08, from 14th to
18th of May 2008. An intense five day and night program listing international shows
and productions, for innovative media art, electronic music and cross-over art with
artists such as musicians, video artists, performers, sonic artists, involving different
arts and lifestyles.

ElectroMediaWorks 08 is open to anyone interested in the theory, technology,
philosophy and practices of mixed media arts, in today’s state-of-the-art cultural
landscape. It is hosted at a 1800-square meter industrial space down town Athens.
A complete 16-channel diffusion system will be installed for the electroacoustic
works and the live electronics and a 5.1 surround system for the video art
installations.
It takes place at the  «Warehouse-Art Factory», Lamias 6 and Pireos.

Workshops

Saturday the 17th  and Sunday the 18th, 12.00 – 17.30 workshops will be held
presenting new technologies and research programs. The workshops are
sponsored and organized by E.P.H.M.E.E. and CMCP.

Saturday, May 17th :
12.00 “Ear to the Earth” – Speech by Joel Chadabe. President and founder of the
Electronic Music Foundation (EMF).  
13.15 Presentation of Composer Gerard Pape,
14.40 Presentation of EPHMEE  
15.15 Presentation of the institute CMMAS, 16.30 presentation of the IDKA
institute.

Sunday, May 18th :
12.00 Interactive Environments: Tools, design and aesthetic considerations
presentation by Ianni Zannos.
14.30 Three Jour Laboratory – presentation of “Kyma” by Carla Scalleti.

Core Curriculum
14th -18th of May 2008, at 18.00 – 24.30 every day:

The program includes concerts and works selected from entries submitted at the
international open call, which ended March 31, 2008.

The program includes:

• 42 concerts by organizations and independent artists from 20 countries (more
than 100 works).
• 22 video art projects.
• An additional 900 square meter floor with installations (Interactive, audio and
video) will be available to visitors of the festival.

• Concert-Project in memory of Karlheinz Stockhausen with Nicholas
Isherwood.
Concert, which includes the production of “Capricorn” by K. Stockhausen and the
implementation of 4 new projects devoted to K. Stockhausen. The concert and the
open call of projects, launched in Paris in spring 2007, was organized by Gerard
Pape and Nicholas Isherwood. The world premier will take place in Athens Greece
in memory of K. Stockhausen.  
The project is scheduled to be presented in 3 more countries during 2008 (U.S.,
France, Spain).
Contributing works by composers: Karlheinz Stockhausen / Germany, Eduardo
Polonio – Spain, Gerard Pape – US / France, David Felder – Spain, Maria Aloupi &
Andreas Diktyopoulos – Greece.

2) Concert – Retrospective of electroacoustic works by Iannis Xenakis:

Kosmos X – video – tribute to Ianni Xenakis, by Efi Xirou.

3) Daniel Kientzy – Concert
The META DUO established by the saxophone player Daniel Kientzy and Reina
Portuondo (electronics) present a program of their own choice.
